Open Monuments Days 2026

-

This year, Maastricht University is once again taking part in the Open Monuments Days on 12 and 13 September. The theme is ‘Resilient Heritage’. Visit the Nieuwenhof Monastery at Zwingelput 4, join a guided tour and discover the free 50 Years of UM exhibition.

But it’s not just UM – the whole of Maastricht will be celebrating its heritage that weekend. You can take part in the Historical Walking Tour of the Boschstraatkwartier or join a guided tour of the ENCI site. Click here for the full programme.

What events are taking place at UM on 12 and 13 September?

Sign up for a guided tour of Nieuwenhof Monastery. Behind its monumental façades lies a history dating back to the fifteenth century. Over the centuries, the complex has served as a beguinage, monastery, poorhouse and orphanage, and is now part of Maastricht University.

At Zwingelput, the Open Monument Days programme will be complemented by live jazz music. Meet Funkollective, the jazz group adding an extra musical touch to the festivities.

Funkollective is a Limburg-based music project by Yannes Hendriks and Laura Seres, bringing together jazz with the energetic sounds of funk and R&B. From relaxed, laid-back grooves to infectious, rhythmic funk, Funkollective creates a musical atmosphere that invites you to listen, move and, above all, have a great time.

Funkollective will perform on Saturday and Sunday from 13:30 to 16:30.
