In addition to standard master's programmes, Maastricht University offers a number of programmes for professionals. These range from Executive MBAs to training in the health professions. Most applicants are seeking post-graduate studies or have been active in the labour market for a substantial period of time. The majority of the programmes are part-time, allowing students to maintain their career while furthering their education.

The programmes in the overview below lead to a master’s degree. We also offer non-degree programmes and (short) courses for professionals. Please view the Other courses overview for more information.

  • Advanced Master in Intellectual Property Law and Knowledge Management (LLM/MSc)

Do you want to advance your international career in cross-border IP litigation practice, or to become an IP expert at the European Patent Office? Are you looking for a challenging, small-scale programme that approaches IP law from multiple perspectives? Then the Advanced Master’s in Intellectual Property Law and Knowledge Management (IPKM) could be just the programme for you. The IPKM programme provides you with the legal foundations and practical and technical skills to work at the crossroads of legal services, policy and knowledge management in technology-driven, innovative and creative industries. Students with work experience and working professionals are particularly encouraged to apply. The curriculum is structured to support a combination of working and studying.

Then Health Education and Promotion could be just the programme for you. The programme revolves around developing, evaluating, implementing and promoting health interventions. After you’ve completed the programme you'll be an expert in promoting health and well-being. The programme focuses on the analysis of health systems and the translation of the results into innovative solutions; you’ll learn how to come up with, implement, manage, evaluate and improve innovative solutions. After you have completed your studies, you'll be an innovative professional who is able to influence the future direction of healthcare.   • Human Movement Sciences

    Are you passionate about physical activity, ageing, health and sports? And would you like to know more about how exercise and nutrition influences health, performance and disease? Then Human Movement Sciences could just be the programme for you. It covers all aspects of the relationship between physical activity and health – from patients trying to get better, to individuals just trying to stay fit, to top athletes aiming for the pinnacle of their sport. The programme offers a great deal of variety, with courses covering themes as diverse as nutrition, muscle & brain function, energy production and metabolic profiling. Because of this variety of courses and an individual 4-5 month research-driven internship/placement, you can pursue your own interests within the programme. Upon graduation, you will be well-prepared to work as a researcher, product developer, exercise scientist or trainer at, for example, a rehabilitation institute or a major sporting club. Download our full infopack

  • International Executive Master of Auditing

    Are you a finance and control professional looking to enhance your strategic business skills and improve your career prospects?  Do you work for a corporation based in or with offices in the Netherlands or have important ties with firms based here? Then the international Executive Master of Finance and Control (iEMFC) could be right for you.

    The programme is particularly suited for you if you’ve been working in international financial practice for at least two years and have a master’s-level background in finance, accounting or information management. It’s a part-time programme that takes two and a half years. You will take six, two-week seminars that are held in Maastricht, Boston and Shanghai. When you graduate, you’ll be awarded with two master's degrees: the Dutch Registered Controller and the international Executive Master of Finance and Control.

    Are you interested in occupational healthcare, organisation science and health education? And would you like to help people stay healthy and productive throughout their career? Then you should consider getting a master’s in Work, Health and Career. The programme combines the theories of health and labour participation with practical trainings, enabling you to in formulate and implement health strategies and interventions. You’ll also learn how you can evaluate these strategies and interventions to see whether further improvement is needed.
