Why this programme?
This Master’s programme in Economics provides you with the required skills and knowledge needed to analyse markets, policy decisions, and people’ choices. The curriculum includes (i) a theoretical foundation of economic principles enhancing your analytical skills, and (ii) a focus on quantitative methods to enable you to apply, test and analyze theoretical predictions and real-life problems. The specialisation courses will then deepen your knowledge on a certain field of economics and hence sharpen your profile.
Next to scientific content, the programme also has a very strong focus on your competence development and employability. First, in the individual competence trajectory, you will be supported in the development of academic and professional competencies, such as applied skills (e.g. mathematics and statistical software), academic writing and literature search, and networking and job market skills (e.g. interview- and assessment preparation). Second, the curriculum contains a project component which is a challenging opportunity to increase your knowledge of economics by applying theoretical skills to solve important economic problems as provided by real-life institutions. You will be encouraged to use a wide range of methods and techniques including data analysis, theoretical modeling, simulation, experiments, etc. During the project, you will receive a training on project management and you will be in close contact with real-life institutions who are potential employers.
Finally, through company internships and a study abroad programme, you have plenty of opportunities to tailor the programme to your preferences and interests.
