Course

Dutch for German speakers

Are you working or studying at Maastricht University, or elsewhere in South Limburg? Is your command of Dutch insufficient and do you find yourself speaking English all the time? If so, this course is for you.

This course, divided into five modules, is for beginner and advanced levels and for different situations, including work, studies or holidays. You’ll focus on speaking and listening skills. Additional work on grammar, as well as reading and writing skills, will support you in the language learning process.

Your teacher will be a native speaker, and the group lessons will be conducted in Dutch. Instructions will also be given in German if it’s absolutely necessary.

The course consists of 14 two-hour group lessons, divided over 7 or 14 weeks. Please note that you will need to invest a minimum of four hours per lesson for independent study.

After the third module, you’ll be able to communicate in Dutch in everyday situations. You’ll also be ready to take the second level of the National Exam in Dutch as a Second Language (Staatsexamen NT2, programma II). You also can choose to continue Dutch by participating in NLC1- (module 4) and NLC1 (module 5). In these modules you will improve your speaking, reading, listening and writing skills on an academic level.
