The Meiji Gakuin Summer Programme is a comprehensive month-long study abroad programme that takes place every year in August. Students from Meiji Gakuin University in Japan come to the Netherlands to deepen their knowledge of European history and art, while working on their English language skills.
All students in the Meiji Gakuin Summer Programme take two courses: one course in English Language and Culture, and a course in European Culture: History & Art. Maastricht is uniquely suited to study both topics in depth. Not only are most Dutch people fluent in English, but the city widely known as the "birthplace of the European Union" is conveniently located in the heart of Europe, offering easy access to major cultural sites in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and beyond.
During the programme students participate in a day trip to Antwerp in Belgium, where they will visit important museums and other cultural sites. In addition, students have the opportunity to discover Europe on their own during the long 3-day weekends. The last four days of the programme are spent in Paris, France where students participate in an exciting study tour organised by Meiji Gakuin University.
