Paolo Balboni

Paolo Balboni is Professor of Privacy, Cybersecurity and IT Contract Law at the European Centre on Privacy and Cybersecurity (ECPC) within the Maastricht University Faculty of Law.

His main research focus is Data Protection as a Corporate Social Responsibility, which can be used to help companies responsibly further their economic targets and at the same time positively contribute to the development of a fair data-centric society.

Paolo is involved in several Horizon 2020 European projects including Cyberwatching and the European observatory of research and innovation in the field of cybersecurity and privacy. Paolo is a qualified lawyer admitted to the Milan Bar (Italy) as well as registered under Article 16 of the Dutch Attorney Law at the Amsterdam Bar (The Netherlands). Paolo is a Founding Partner of ICT Legal Consulting (ICTLC), a law firm with offices around the world.

 

Cosimo Monda

Cosimo Monda is Director of the Maastricht European Centre on Privacy and Cybersecurity within the Maastricht University Faculty of Law.

He has longstanding experience in EU affairs. Particularly in business development, design executive education, certification courses and online learning modules for professionals and management of service contracts. He is an internationally recognized public speaker and lecturer on a variety of issues related to Privacy, Data Protection and Cybersecurity. His field of expertise includes Data Protection and Cybersecurity, EU Information Management, Transparency and Access to documents, EU Agencies, EU decision-making Procedures and Institutions, and EU Law.

Kate Francis

Kate Francis is an external PhD candidate at the European Centre on Privacy and Cybersecurity (ECPC) at the Maastricht University Faculty of Law. She is a Privacy and Etics Research, Development and Communications specialist at ICT Legal Consulting.

Kate is a Certified Data Protection Officer (ECPC-B DPO, ECPC, UM) and a Cloud Security Alliance GDPR Compliance Code of Conduct Consultant. Her research activities are primarily focused on Data Protection as a Corporate Social Responsibility: exploring how an ethical approach to data processing can practically complement legal requirements and privacy and data protection trends.

Christopher Mondschein

Christopher Mondschein is a Researcher at the European Centre on Privacy and Cybersecurity within the Maastricht University Faculty of Law. 

He engages in professional education on Data Protection and conducts research in several projects. Moreover, he is the editor of the Maastricht Journal of European and Comparative Law.

Joyce Groneschild

Joyce Groneschild is Project Manager at the European Centre on Privacy and Cybersecurity within the Maastricht University Faculty of Law.

Joyce is responsible for a smooth running of the centre's executive education, business development and marketing, and managing ECPC's projects. She has a longstanding experience in marketing, communication, professional training development and project management. Joyce holds a master's degree in International Business with a specialization in Strategic Marketing obtained at Maastricht University.
