Notes

Prof. Dr. Andrea Broderick is a full Professer at Maastricht University. In September 2022, she was appointed by UNESCO as the Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair in Human Rights and Peace, at Maastricht University. She was previously an Associate Professor at the Department of International and European Law of Maastricht University. She was also a Marie Sklodowska-Curie researcher in an FP7 research project entitled DARE, funded by the European Commission.  Andrea holds a Ph.D. in international and comparative disability equality law from Maastricht University. She also holds a BA International (law and French), awarded (with First Class Honours) jointly by the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) and the University of Poitiers, France. In addition, she graduated with an LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws), as well as an LL.M. in International and Comparative Disability Law and Policy, with First Class Honours, from NUIG. Andrea is also a qualified solicitor. Before working at Maastricht University, Andrea worked in professional legal practice for many years. 

Andrea’s current research interests lie in the areas of disability law, equality law, international and European human rights law, European Court of Human Rights, children’s rights and women’s rights. She has written reports for, among others, the European Commission and has given guest lectures at the European Academy of Law, Trier.

 

A.C. Broderick

Andrea Broderick is a full Professor at the Department of International and European Law at Maastricht University. She holds the UNESCO Chair in Human Rights and Peace since September 2022.

Andrea is the Co-director of the Maastricht Centre for Human Rights.

Andrea is also the National Director and EMA Director (on behalf of Maastricht University) of the European Master's Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation (Venice), Global Campus of Human Rights.

In addition, she was the Programme Coordinator/Director of the Masters European Law School in 2021/2022.
