Education

At the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience we offer two bachelor's, five master's, and two pre-master's programmes. In Maastricht we teach through small scale education, so called Problem Based Learning (PBL). All teaching is organised by the Section Teaching and Innovation in Learning (STIL), and the departments: Clinical Psychological Science (CPS), Cognitive Neuroscience (CN), Work and Social Psychology (W&SP), Neuropsychology and Psychopharmacology (NP&PP), and Methodology and Statistics (M&S).

Psychology

You will learn how scientists study human internal, mental processes such as: language, memory, thinking, and perception. You will also train in different research and statistical methods. Additionally, you will learn other important skills, such as: critical thinking, writing scientific papers, ethical and social responsibility, communicating, complex problem-solving, perspective-taking, working in a team, and professional skills that belong to the field of psychology.

Mental Health

​​​​Would you like to work in mental healthcare? And would you like to learn how to best treat, diagnose and manage different disorders? Or would you like to do research into psychological disorders? Then Mental Health is the programme you’re looking for. In this programme, you’ll gain the practical skills necessary to assess and manage various mental healthcare problems. You’ll also have the opportunity to do a clinical internship and a research internship, where you’ll obtain essential skills in the areas of diagnostics, interventions and research. Depending on your interests, you can either specialise Adult Psychopathology or Child and Adolescence Psychopathology

The pre-master is intended for applied university students with relevant prior education who have not completed a university bachelor's and/or master's degree. If you do not fulfil the admission requirements of the master Psychology you may qualify for admission to the pre-master Psychology. If you successfully complete this pre-master's programme within one academic year, you can continue with one specialisation of the master’s in Psychology at FPN in the subsequent academic year.
