Introduction days at FPN 2018
The Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience (FPN) is organising an essential, informative, and fun week that'll prepare you and your fellow students for your academic career at FPN. From 27-31 August you’ll engage in activities that'll inform you on practical aspects of studying at our faculty. You’ll also get the chance to meet your new classmates while you learn to work with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) system. And what would an introduction be without a party? On Monday evening we'll kick-off your first week at the faculty with food, drinks, and dancing.
We're working hard planning the FPN Introduction Days. Once the programme is finalised it will be published here.
During the introduction week you will have your first Problem-Based Learning (PBL) sessions at FPN. During your stay in Maastricht and in your career, you’ll need to be able to work independently, in groups, be assertive and solve problems. FPN uses the PBL to help you to develop these skills together with your fellow students.
In small groups of roughly 13 students, supervised and assisted by a tutor, you actively seek solutions to real-life problems. You'll not only learn to operate at an academic level, but also to work together on real psychological issues – just as you will later on in your career.

UM Systems Training
During your time at Maastricht University (UM) you may need to arrange some aspects of your studies yourself, for example: booking courses, registering for exams and handing in your work. UM has different systems in place to make sure this all works smoothly. The UM Systems Training will show you the different systems and how to use them.
On Monday afternoon we’re going to celebrate with a party organised especially for you. Here you’ll get the chance to mingle with people from different programmes as well as your new teachers and other UM employees. There will be great food, refreshing drinks and lots of dancing!
Luna-tik is the FPN study association. We are here for all bachelor, master, and exchange psychology students in Maastricht. Our aim is to bring psychology students together by organising a range of activities; including workshops, lectures, parties, city-trips and excursions. We achieve this with the help of our active members, who work together in committees throughout the year.
During the introduction week we organise activities where you can meet and bond with your fellow students. The Introduction Camp Committee plans a weekend trip to give first year students a chance to meet each other. Furthermore, in the first two weeks of each period it is possible to buy books for the upcoming courses at our desk.
A large part of your academic career at FPN will be spent at the Randwyck Health Campus. This health campus consists of a number of buildings close to the Maastricht Randwyck train station. Part of the introduction week programme is a campus tour, guided by one of our current students. They will show you all relevant buildings and share their own experiences in them.
Help! I cannot attend the FPN Introduction week
The FPN Introduction Days is a mandatory event for which you will receive ECTS. Education at our faculty starts on 27 August, therefore if you miss the introduction you'll be forced to do an extra assignment in order to catch up with our fellow students. Keep in mind that the weeks after the introduction will be filled with new impressions and work to get you off to a good start, so we urge you to attend the FPN Introduction week.
Please note: master students will need to complete their assignment within the first 4 weeks of the programme, or they will not be allowed to continue their studies
If you are unable to join your classmates on 27 August, for a valid reason, please contact us via the form below.
