The UM Green Office
The UM Green Office is a body of Maastricht University that is managed by a team of employees and students, with the goal of promoting higher sustainability standards within the University and its community. This is achieved by bringing together the strategic efforts of Maastricht University with a vibrant network of innovators and facilitators active in the field of sustainability. Thereby, the Green Office operates as a liaison office as well as an incubator for open innovation, creating a dynamic and self-perpetuating process within and around the university. The synergies that the different institutions and initiatives in Maastricht can create are tremendous if their capacity and expertise is pooled and built upon.
With the Green Office, Maastricht University will not only position itself as a pioneer in sustainability practice in the Netherlands and further its international reputation, but will also foster sustainable development on the ground. Building on Maastricht University’s key competences of interdisciplinary and critical thinking, integrated assessment and problem based learning, the Green Office seems not only promising, but also imperative.
Through its services and physical location in the Inner City, the Green Office addresses the urgent need for integrated efforts for a sustainable future for Maastricht, being helpful to students, university employees and external partners alike. Constantly looking for new concepts, stimulating innovative solutions and bundling efforts of the campus community, the Green Office aims to place itself at the forefront of sustainability and social entrepreneurship.
