ILL account regulations

ILL account regulations at Maastricht  University Library


  • The ILL account consists of a user number and a password. The user number is the 6-digit number of your UM card preceded by the letters UM (for instance UM123456). You will receive your password after opening the ILL account.
  • The ILL account can be used to borrow books and request photocopies of books and articles from other libraries in the Netherlands.
    Requests to libraries abroad can not  be made via the ILL account. UM staff members can make requests electronically. UM students and external members can go to the library's information desk.
  • Photocopies are sent to your (work/home/e-mail) address.
  • Books are sent to the library. Once the book you requested has arrived you will be notified.
  • ILL account holders are personally responsible for providing correct address details (work/home/e-mail).
  • ILL account holders are personally responsible for keeping their user number and password secret. Should you lose your password, you may request a new password from the library. The library does not assume responsibility for any misuse of your ILL account.
  • In case of complaints or questions about any incorrect deliveries or copies that are not received, please turn to the information desk.
  • Students will be charged a minimum deposit of €5 when opening an account. This amount can only be settled with a pin card. The credit on the account can be topped up at the desk with a minimum of €5 at a time, which is payable immediately.
  • No refund of the deposit will be given to students upon completion of their course of study.
