Use of LINK laptop outlets

Access

LINK laptop outlets can only be used by Maastricht University (UM) students and staff.

Opening hours

The outlets can be used during the Randwyck Library opening hours.
Students and staff must provide their own UTP (RJ45) cables and NICs (Network Interface Card). Please contact the ICT Servicecentre for more information (service desk T +31 43 388 5555).

Initial laptop configuration for LINK

The first time you connect to one of the outlets, your laptop must be configured for use in LINK. To do so, turn on your laptop and launch your internet browser. A form is displayed that you can use to register for 'use of outlets within LINK'. Read the instructions carefully, enter the required details and confirm. Then reboot your laptop. You only have to do this once: you can then always connect the configured laptop to a LINK outlet and use the UM network or the internet. However, the configuration only applies to use within LINK, not to other outlets within UM.

Reporting failures

Use any LINK computer to report a problem with an outlet via Ask your librarian, the library’s digital information desk.

Only contact the information desk in the library (on Level 1) if all or nearly all LINK computers have broken down. Failures that are reported on working days are generally solved within 20 hours.
