Psychology & Neuroscience collection
The Maastricht University Library has been accumulating resources for its biological and cognitive psychology collection since 1995. These two themes are the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience’s (FPN) pillars of research and education. Housed in the Randwyck Library, the collection consists of two parts:
- an education collection in the Randwyck Learning and Resource Centre
- a collection primarily related to FPN’s research and its master’s programmes (list of acquisitions).
Consisting of books and videotapes (with several copies of each title), the materials in the learning and tesource ventre collection are not for loan.
You can view the videos – which are increasingly being digitalised – at the centre.
The research collection consists of books that are for loan, and journals as well as reference and bibliographical works that you can only use in the library. Less current literature (old editions of books, journal issues etc.) is available in the closed stacks and can be requested at the document supply desk.
Part of the collection is available in electronic form (eLibrary). This means you can consult it from anywhere with an internet connection.
The collection reflects the faculty’s research, which focuses on the relationships between the brain, cognition and behaviour from various angles (cognitive neuroscience, developmental biopsychology, social psychology, work and organisational psychology, clinical psychology, psychopathology, neuropsychology and psychopharmacology).
Also relevant to psychology and neuroscience is the Jesuit collection, housed in the Inner City Library. Including approximately 265,000 volumes, it represents a broad humanities collection on theology, philosophy, history, literature, law and various social sciences (sociology, psychology, anthropology, economics, etc.). It thus offers a wide range of starting points for the research and education activities of many Maastricht University faculties.
