Precious works study room house rules

The University Library is proud of its collection of old and precious books and wishes to preserve them in the best possible state. To be able to do so, we need your co-operation.

The following rules apply to the use of books in this room:

• Please observe silence in this room.
• When you consult books from the old collection, follow the instructions given by library staff.
• The only writing utensils allowed in this room are pencils.
• Do not touch old books more often than is necessary and refrain from putting paper or other objects on top of them. Do not bend open tight bindings.
• Visitors consulting the old book collection have preference over other users when it comes to occupying study places in this room.
• Books can only be consulted outside this room with prior permission from a member of the library staff.
• Books can only be photocopied or photographed in consultation with a member of the library staff.
• When you leave this room, library staff is entitled to check your (private) material and the books used.
• Food and beverages are not allowed.
• Coats and bags are not allowed.
• Otherwise, the library house rules apply also to this room.
