Library copier and printing services
All copy machines within the university fall under the supervision of Océ Business Services. Océ is responsible for supplying paper, for the number of machines available, but also for the expenses and solving technical malfuncions.
Printing
Printers are available on every floor of the Inner City Library. In the Randwyck Library, printers are located at LINK and at levels 1 and 3 in Computerroom A, B and C. These printers can be used with a UM card.
Double-sided printing as default
All print jobs in the library are automatically set to double-sided printing. This means you must adjust the standard printer options if you do not want your document printed double sided.
This decision was made in consultation with representatives of the UM user groups.
Choice of printer
You may submit print jobs from your TC or PC to the printer. At the printer, you activate each print job using your UM card. The price of a single print is €0.05.
In both library locations your print jobs are directed to the printer on the floor where you are working at your computer. Two exeption in Randwyck: there is no printer on level 2 in the Randwyck Library. Therefore the printer in PC room B (level 3) is the default printer here. Prints from the catalogue computers are directed to the printer on level 1.
Instructions
- Océ Business Services print instructions
- Follow me printing
Usually, you select the printer located on the floor of the building where you are working. However, if there are many jobs in queue, you can choose another printer in the library (using the FETCH option) and print it there. - Print efficiently
Printing tips
- We recommend that users remove print jobs from the printer display after completing the print job. Failure to do so means that print jobs remain available for the rest of the day, and may be printed by anyone.
- Save your document on the I-disk before submitting a print job. This is important in particular in the case of PDF files.
If you print from any of the TCs that do not require you to log in (the so-called OBW stations), there is no i-number on the printer display, but the indication 'anon' or 'OBW+number' (you can find this number at your computer screen).
Scanning
There are flatbed scanners available at both library locations, which can be used to scan texts and graphic images. These must be used for educational purposes only. The scanners can be used free of charge. A short manual is available with each scanner.
