What does the ICT Service Centre do?
The ICT Service Centre is one of 5 service centres at the University Maastricht (UM) that have been set up to provide specific services within the organization. The ICTS provides services in the areas of Information and Communication Technology.
All students and UM employees have access to Maasnet, the computer network of the University of Maastricht. ICTS is responsible for the management and maintenance of Maasnet.
The tasks and responsibilities of ICTS consist of more than just the management and maintenance of Maasnet. It is possible to purchase software, through the ICT Service Centre. ICTS also provides support to end-users within the UM and provides project coordination.
ICTS forms part of the University of Maastricht. The mission, vision and naturally the culture are derived directly from the mission and culture of the UM as a whole. The ICT Service centre defines it’s mission as follows:
ICTS’s mission is to provide sustainable ICT services according to demand and satisfaction.
ICTS seeks to emphasise the following elements.
- Demand: ICTS operates on the basis of demand and provides the service agreed on with the client: no more, no less. Agreements are made according to the required result.
- Satisfaction: Continuous client satisfaction, both of contract partners and end users, is the main performance indicator for ICTS in both the short and long term.
- Providing IT services: ICTS is an organisation that primarily executes and provides IT support for UM processes; as such, it acts as an advisor for UM’s IT policy.
- Sustainable: ICTS provides up-to-date and sustainable IT products, which are, at the same time, both reliable and efficient. As such, ICTS will not be a forerunner in the application of new technologies, but rather a close follower based on proven technology.
- At UM: As part of UM, ICTS may be viewed as its in-house supplier and is characterised by knowledge of UM’s primary and secondary processes. As such, ICTS is able to provide high-quality support for – and guarantee the role of IT in – these processes.
