How the webshop (sports) works
For whom?
Order and payment online exclusively for:
- Anyone who have had a UM sports card before and
- All UM students who want to become a member of UM SPORT.
Note: New first-year students can apply for a sports card online if the registration requirements for the University have been met (mid August 2011). - UM SPORT members
Unfortunately not for:
- Students other then UM for whom this is the first application.
- Not students and others for whom this is the first application.

Step 1: Log in
To be able to enter the Web shop, you have to log in. Prices of several articles may vary depending on the member category. If you succeed to log in and it is clear which type of member you are (or will be), the system automatically shows the right prices.
You can log in with:
- ID number (without the 'i') or employee number or sports card number and
- Date of birth
If you log in succesfully the personal data record is shown.
If you fail to log in: what went wrong?
Failure: Data not found... is shown
- Check all numbers and try again
- Leave out the 'i' before the ID number and try again
- New first-year students can apply online if the registration requirements have been met.
- You are not a UM student or UM SPORT member; you can buy the sports card at the desk.
- If you are sure that you have had a sports card before, or you are an UM student, please send an e-mail to: umsportwebshop@maastrichtuniversity.nl
First application not UM student and others?
Application is only possible at the desk. Please bring: ID- or employee number, passport photograph, bank or credit card (sorry, no cash).
Step 2: Personal Data
When successfully logged in, your personal data (as they are recorded in the UM SPORT data base) are shown. Please check these data and change if necessary.
Note: Last name, date of birth and member type cannot be changed by you. For changes concerning these items send an e-mail to: umsportwebshop@maastrichtuniversity.nl. You will receive a confirmation of change by e-mail a.s.a.p. and continue to step 3: Shopping.
Also note:
- All fields have to be entered for correctly processing your order.
- If someone else pays your order, enter their data regarding these fields by overwriting.
- Tick off the box for a confirmation and a copy of this record by e-mail.
Click the 'Save' button and continue to step 3: Shopping.
Step 3: Shopping
In the webshop an overview of articles (sports card, fitness introduction, fitness/gym licence, courses) is shown, comparable with the 'Overview sports programme' on the UM SPORT website.
The prices are adjusted to the type of member you are.
Sports card and courses
You can only order the sports card that is valid at that moment. As soon as you have ordered the sports card, you can register for a course. Registration for courses starts 10 days before the start of the course. Select an item on day and time, note the start date. Note: You can only order a course within time validity range of the sports card.
Fitness/Gym licence and fitness introduction
You can only order or renew the fitness/gym licence if you have had a licence or fitness introduction before. Note: In combination with the sports card, the fitness/gym licence is less expensive. If you have not had a fitness/gym licence at UM SPORT before, you need to order and follow the fitness introduction. Select the article on date and time. After this once-only introduction you can order the fitness/gym licence at the web shop or at the desk.
Courses
To register for a course you need a valid sports card. Select an item on day and time, note the starting date. Sale for courses starts 10 days before the start of the course.

You will get detailed information about an article/activity by clicking on the 'i' icon in the last column.
To order
To order an article, click on the shopping cart icon in the column 'Order' .
You can order more articles at once.
Content shopping cart
In the left upper corner, next to the shopping cart icon, the items are count.
Step 4: Order
Items are count in the left upper corner next to the icon. Click 'Show' button or the icon to see an overview of the content.
An overview of articles and prices will appear. From this point on you can change or cancel an article, continue shopping or pay your order.
- To cancel, click the trash bin
- To continue shopping, click 'Back to webshop'
- To pay your order, click 'Pay order'
Step 5: Payment
Once you ordered successfully , you will enter the secure payment pages. Note: your order will be processed once we received authorization of your payment.
Payment procedures
You can choose 2 payment procedures:
- via iDeal (national): ABN-AMRO, ASN bank, Friesland bank, ING, Rabobank, Regiobank, SNS bank, Triodos bank, Van Lanschot bankiers
This way of payment leads you to your own familiar bank environment, where you can handle the payment of your order with their own specific secure payment system. - via credit card (international and national): EuroCard/MasterCard / Visa / American Express

And also...
When successfully passed through the payment process, a confirming message will appear on screen. You will receive an e-mail with this confirmation automatically.
The UM Sport card and/or fitness license will be send within 5 working days to the address recorded.
The Certificate of Participation for courses or introduction will be send by e-mail (pdf file) the same day. Print it and take it with you to the activity.
