Yoga for UM employees
UM SPORT offers yoga classes during lunch break especially for UM employees.
A SBE employee about Yoga
“This one hour yoga really makes a difference in my working week! I always plan to take a break, slow down a bit but the practise is different; I keep working and before I realise it the day is over. One hour of relaxation gives me new energy and makes me more productive. To maintain the balance, I also try to add the exercises to my daily live.”

What is Yoga
Traditional Hatha Yoga is a holistic yogic path, including moral disciplines, physical postures (asana), purification procedures (shatkriya), poses (mudra), yogic breathing (pranayama), and meditation. The Hatha yoga predominantly practiced in the West consists of mostly asanas understood as physical exercises. It is also recognized as a stress-reducing practice.
Hatha yoga attempts to balance mind and body via physical postures or "asanas", purification practices, controlled breathing, and the calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation. Asanas teach poise, balance and strength and are practiced to improve the body's physical health and clear the mind in preparation for meditation in the pursuit of enlightenment.
Yoga and Critical Alignment
Good alignment means that the body can move freely without tension. Critical Alignment Yoga is a exercise method from Gert van Leeuwen (Amsterdam).
Stress and a wrong posture can lead to high tension and rigidity of particularly the higher and lower back. In these sessions you will get exercises for shoulders, neck, back and stress related complaints like breathing problems and tiredness. Different tools will be used like strips, lower back rolls and small head stance benches. The yoga-asana’s (postures) will be improved and there will be made a relation with daily life. The way to recovery begins with relaxation.
Bring along: fleece plaid or big (!) bath towel.
