City of Horst scholarship

The City of Horst aan de Maas, over 40.000 inhabitants, is a very dynamic community that combines being innovative and supportive to its many companies in worldwide agro-business and being a top tourist destination.


Horst is at the crossroads of a European network of highways and rail. The city has a regional mission, together with its neighbours like the city of Venlo. The region is one of the Netherlands' most important logistic junctions and fast growing, globally operating agro-business regions. In 2012 the city of Horst aan de Maas will be co-host of the world expo Floriade. The keyword for Horst and its surrounding region is innovation.


The city of Horst aan de Maas wants to support students who are looking for a future in the innovation management in Health and Food. This field of attention is is about innovation, about health care, about business and about quality of life. The innovation that we seek and support will not only have regional but also global benefits. 


Who is eligible?
The city of Horst aan de Maas provides one scholarship for talented master's students. Applicants must have been admitted to the two-year master’s programme Health Food Innovation Management of the Maastricht University Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life sciences (FHML). The programme is taught at the Maastricht University Campus in the city of Venlo. The application is for the programme that starts in September 2012. Candidates applying for this scholarship should have a true interest in and affinity for the innovative developments concerning Health and Food with respect to business or health care.


Candidates must have met all the requirements of the application procedure. Applicants must be a national of one of the EU membership countries.



Scholarship amount
The scholarship consists of a tuition fee waiver for two academic years and a contribution to costs of living for a maximum period of maximum 24 months. 


City of Horst Scholarship 2012-2014

Allowance per year €700 in two installments of €350 at the start of each semester
Tuition fee waiver per year €1.771 arranged by Student Services Centre

Applications must be sent by e-mail before 9 April 2012, 12 PM to Dr F. Troost


The Faculty will rank the candidates based on quality, and the Faculty Board will send its motivated selection to the Student Service Centre. The Student Service Centre then will propose a candidate for the City of Horst Scholarship according to the faculty ranking. The UM Scholarship Committee will make the final decision. Applicants will be informed about the decision in writing.
