Alumni scholarship

Maastricht University alumni want to stay involved in the academic family of their Alma Mater. That means that they also feel involved in the development of the students of later generations. A special concern for the alumni are the young talents from developing countries, who seek knowledge that could improve the fate of many. The University Fund Limburg’s annual alumni fund offers possibilities to donate one or more scholarships to Maastricht University and its prospective students.

This scholarship provides an opportunity to experience the Problem-Based Learning educational model at UM, but also gives the scholarship recipient the opportunity to learn from other cultures by becoming a part of UM’s international academic community.

For 2012-2013 the Alumni Scholarship will focus on the innovative and international Master Global Health program. This is a one-year master program, taught in English, which addresses on a global scale, the complex relationships between health, healthcare, technology, international business, economic development, politics, socio-cultural environment, and management. The program offers both actual and virtual student and faculty exchanges between the participating universities:

- Thammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand
- Manipal University in Manipal, India
- McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada.

During a two-week Learning Symposium, all of the Global Health students will come together -  possibly in a developing country - to exchange ideas and experiences, and to lay the foundation for future collaboration.
