Erasmus programme
The EU Erasmus programme aims to improve the quality and 'European dimension' of higher education through a variety of activities: student and teacher mobility, curriculum development, language courses and the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
Apart from the Netherlands, participating countries include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
UM has agreements with partner institutes in various European countries offering three to twelve-month grants for courses or traineeships. The level of such grants is adapted to the standard of living in the host country. A stay at one of the partner institutes is acknowledged as part of a UM study programme.
