How to apply for support
Protocol for notification and request for facilities
Important:
- You have to take the first step!
- Always bring along an original medical/dyslexia declaration (in English or German)
- Request on time! The procedure to request special arrangements may take up to 6 weeks and that faculties apply deadlines for the request of exam facilities!
- If you suspect that you have a disability or if you are in the process of diagnosis it is advisable to also inform your study advisor.
Notification of the impairment:
The notification of a functional impairment can be done via various ways:
- (Prospective) students with a functional impairment and official medical declaration can contact the study advisor of their (future) faculty or the Servicedesk Disability. This is also possible if you are not yet officially registered as a Maastricht University student!
- Prospective students can also report their impairment via the digital welcome letter to the Servicedesk Disability. For facilities, questions and information, you can also contact the Servicedesk yourself.
Request facilities:
- In case you need study facilities, you can contact your study advisor, student dean or the Servicedesk Disability.
- During a meeting with the student dean or an employee of the Servicedesk Disability, we will discuss with you the possibilities for special arrangements. Based on the outcome of the intake-interview, an Advice Allotment Facilities (AAF) will be made. In order to be a candidate for an AAF you need to show an official medical declaration of a practitioner (for example a dyslexia declaration).
- The AAF is an advice. The examination committee of your faculty takes the formal decision.
- After receiving the AAF, it is important to contact the study advisor of your faculty as soon as possible. He or she will then make sure the members of the examination committee will evaluate your request.
- As soon as the examination committee accepts the request for special arrangements, the study advisor will take care of the practical organization of the extra services/arrangements.
