University decisions

Appeals can be lodged with the Appeals Tribunal for Higher Education (College van Beroep voor het Hoger Onderwijs) against decisions taken by the university regarding registration, payment of tuition fees, termination of registration, exemption from, or reduction or reimbursement of tuition fees, financial support from the Regulation Financial Support Students UM, and refused access to buildings and premises.

Before lodging an appeal with the Appeals Tribunal for Higher Education, complainants are obliged to first submit a letter of objection to the administrative body which has taken the decision (usually the Executive Board), which must be done within 6 weeks after the decision was sent. A hearing will be organised to enable the complainant to give an oral explanation.

The administrative body shall take a decision no later than 6 weeks after receipt of the letter of objection. After this, an appeal may be lodged with the Appeals Tribunal for Higher Education. In principle, this body also applies the term of 6 weeks after submission of the appeal against the letter of objection. Administrative fees are € 41 (January 2011).
