Your notebook (Requirements)

To make optimal use of the WiFi service, you should have:
• a notebook with an 802.11g or 802.11b/g wireless network adapter
• a wireless network adapter that supports WPA2 security
• a valid UM account (for UMnet and eduroam)
• at least Windows XP with SP2
• access to the system administration (i.e. the possibility to configure your laptop).

WiFi and security:

The security of wireless networks is an essential element. Maastricht University therefore uses security protocol 802.1x.

Users will only be granted access to the network after entering a valid username and password. The information transmitted will be secured according to the highest security standards currently available.
