Delegates HERUG Conference 2011 Maastricht University
Welcome to the HERUG 2011 Website
The International SAP HERUG (Higher Education and Research User Group) 2011 Conference was held in Maastricht (Netherlands) from 18th – 21st April 2011. The Conference has been hosted by SECU (consortium of 8 co-operating Dutch universities all being SAP-customers) and in fact organised at Maastricht University.
Based upon extensive positive delegate feedback the Organising Committee is proudly looking back at a conference that in many regards went beyond expectations. Thank you all for your individual contribution in making this HERUG 2011 conference successful.
A real big THANK YOU goes to Bob van der Werf who - only one day before the actual start of the conference - heard much to his surprise that he was called upon chairing this conference as the conference Chairman unexpectedly got injured. Given the circumstances a job Bob has truly been performing in an outstanding way.
The conference presentations are available for download via the separate weblink. One of the presenters asked for ‘controlled circulation’ of his presentation among HERUG delegates only. Until 1 October 2011 you can submit a request for receiving a copy of this presentation by email to HERUG@maastrichtuniversity.nl .
Under normal circumstances you may expect receiving this individual copy in your mailbox within a week after submitting the request.
The delegates of the HERUG Conferences typically are either staff members of Institutions which are HERUG members or are employees of SAP. HERUG membership is free and is open to any degree-granting Higher Education and Research Institution which is a SAP customer with signed contract(s) for the productive use of one or more SAP R/3, SAP ERP or SAP Business Suite software modules.
Please see the main HERUG website at: http://web.mit.edu/her/
At past HERUG Conferences, delegates have also included third party consultants who have assisted SAP implementation at a HERUG-member Institution, but attendance by such persons is at the discretion of the Chair of the Conference Organising Committee.
During this year’s HERUG Business Meeting this ever existing HERUG policy is basically reconfirmed to stay effective for the future. Possible future adjustments are connected to adequate response to the SAP co-development policy within the ecosystem which basically can be considered as a further refinement of the existing third party policy.
Third party consultants will be asked to deliver added value to the conference, preferably based on actual implementation experiences at an institution for higher education. When this is the case (discretion of the Chair) they in return might gain admission to the conference. Commercial activities of any kind by third parties are out of the question.
HERUG Conferences are a great opportunity to network with colleagues and to better understand operational and implementation opportunities and challenges for the use of SAP products in the Higher Education and Research environment. They also allow us to hear about current and future SAP product developments of particular importance in this environment from experts from SAP. Several critical developments in the SAP product offering, including Student Lifecycle Management and Grants Management, have evolved through interaction between SAP product development experts involved in SAP Higher Education and Research domain and the HERUG community.
Once again thank you for attending HERUG 2011 in Maastricht!
Henny Claessens
Chair, HERUG 2011 Organising Committee
