Incoming exchange students
Exchange Student or Study Abroad/Contract Student?
You are an exchange student if your home university has a formal student exchange agreement with University College Maastricht, and if you are nominated for the program by the exchange coordinator of your home institution.
Exchange students remain enrolled with their home institution and continue to pay tuition fees to their home institution. Exchange students may study at UCM for one or two semesters.
You are a contract student or also called study abroad student if your home university does not have a formal student exchange program with UCM and if you want to study at UCM for a few courses or for one or two semesters on a non-award basis.
Contract students are permitted to participate in courses and examinations. However, they are not registered as regular university students and are not entitled to complete the UCM degree, nor are they able to convert their contract student status into that of a regular full-degree student.
Contract students are obliged to pay an enrolment fee and to pay the tuition fee for the courses they register for. The fees are:
€ 500 enrollment fee
€ 530 for a course or for a project
€ 265 for a skills course
(prices are subject to change).
These fees are non-refundable and will have to be paid in advance.
