Programme

The two-week training will be offered three times:

  • Dakar (Senegal): 31 May to 11 June 2010 (in French) 
  • Accra (Ghana): 20 September to 1 October 2010 (in English) 
  • Douala (Cameroon): 29 November to 10 December 2010 (in French)

Each course will be two weeks long, and will be residential. Participants from host countries are also expected to attend on a residential basis.

  • Evidence on impact 
  • Political economy and institutional feasibility 
  • Poverty analysis 
  • Financing and budgeting of social transfers 
  • Designing social transfers 
  • Targeting
  • Conditionalities 
  • Benefit levels 
  • Monitoring and evaluation
  • Exit strategies and graduation from programs 
  • Regional experience

The course will end with an assessment exercise. Participants who attend the entire course and complete the assessment to a satisfactory standard will receive an official certificate from the University of Maastricht.
