The Maastricht University India Institute is meant to be a meeting place for academics and professionals working on contemporary India. From here you can access information about Maastricht University’s joint research and education projects executed together with partners in India as well as MUII events or programmes related to Contemporary India.
Our mission
The Maastricht University India Institute (MUII) links directly with the Maastricht Education and Research Centre Pvt Ltd (MERC) in Bangalore in developing research lines and collaboration initiatives both in India and at faculties in Maastricht.
Further to this the India Institute in Maastricht aspires to build itself as an open platform in Europe for joint efforts in knowledge building on Contemporary India. Networking and partnerships are the most vital mechanisms to successfully execute this initiative. Therefore MUII plans to facilitate the growth of a network of governmental and non-governmental institutions, businesses, Asia and India focused institutions, universities, research agencies, hospitals and business & industry partners in the Netherlands, Brussels region and rest of Europe.
As such the MUII network would facilitate the exchange of expert knowledge on India and establish as well as maintain innovative partnerships with key stakeholders to strengthen and multiply the effectiveness and impact of the network. The network will aim to combine the best of Europe and India to promote innovation which responds to the needs of today’s knowledge economies.
The Maastricht University India Institute focuses on:
- developing a network allowing various internal and external parties to connect and therefore further develop knowledge on contemporary India;
- promoting dialogue between the policy community and academia in order to enhance the impact of academic work and professional understanding of India;
- conducting executive training for India focused professionals;
- contributing to bachelor and master education programmes on India for students at Maastricht University.
