Holi and Diwali

The Indian Student Association Maastricht (ISAM)
The Indian Student Association Maastricht (ISAM) is an informal community of Indian students studying at Maastricht University (UM), The Netherlands. ISAM also welcomes any inputs from Indian nationals working in the Limburg area. Via a virtual platform, the group aims to facilitate communication between prospective students from India and those enrolled at the UM. The ISAM community welcomes requests regarding studying at Maastricht University, the city of Maastricht and will be happy to share information on VISA applications, travel- and accommodation arrangements. Moreover, ISAM members communicate and share their experiences as Indian students at UM to enrich each other’s knowledge on The Netherlands, Maastricht and Maastricht University. Topics discussed may vary from details on living in Maastricht and the Netherlands, Indian food shopping, cricket playing opportunities, travel in Europe, etc. In short ISAM facilitates communication between ISAM members and allows every member to voice his/her opinions, ideas and experiences.

Holi and Diwali

Throughout the year, Maastricht University invites ISAM members to participate in different Maastricht University India Institute (MUII) organized events and gatherings. Some of these are a ‘Welcome Drink’ for all Indian students in September at the beginning of the academic year as well as an end of year drink. ISAM started as a group in 2008 and in the past has organized events such as Indian Republic Day, Holi and Diwali, attended by participants from Europe, Asia, the Americas and Australia, ranging from 5 to 76 years. Pictures and videos of these events and other interesting facts on the Maastricht University India Strategy are frequently shared with all members.

Since 2012, members of the ISAM group can participate in events and activities organized by AISA – Aachen Indian Student Association – ISAM’s counterpart in Aachen, Germany based at the RWTH Aachen University.
