English intakes
People who are interested in taking an English language course should attend a placement interview held at the Language Centre to have their level of English assessed by an English teacher prior to registration.
Online test
Before having a placement interview, you need to do an online test. You need a token to do the test. Write to languages-intake-eng@maastrichtuniversity.nl and ask for a token. You will be sent a test token and a link to a site where you can complete the test.
Please note you will ONLY be told the result at the placement interview.
After completing the test, you can make an appointment via languages-intake-eng@maastrichtuniversity.nl for one of the following days:

Procedure
Intakes are conducted by trained instructors, and are based on a conversation that begins with factual information and gradually progresses towards more general and abstract topics, eliciting more complex language.
For some courses you may be required to provide a sample of your writing. This will be analysed by a trained instructor, and taken into consideration along with the results of the intake interview.
Those wishing to register for a general language course will also be given a Oxford Quick Placement Test.
Outcome
At the end of the placement interview, the instructor will provide you with a course recommendation reflecting the course(s) which is appropriate for your level of English and your personal learning requirements.
