As of 2004, UCM offers students the opportunity to prepare, set up and
organize a conference of their own. You will join in the challenge that
is UCM Conference, in which you will use your knowledge and apply the
skills you have developed throughout the years, ranging from writing and
analytical skills to skills for presentations and organizing events. The
Conference ‘track’ consists of three parts:
• SKI3050 Preparing Conference I
• SKI3051 Preparing Conference II
• PRO3006 Conference
The first Skills Training will deal with the content of the
conference you are about to organize. Depending on your own and your
fellow students’ interests, a number of topics will be proposed and
discussed. You will have set up an initial plan which will provide you
with a framework for the second period.
During the second period you will work on the details of the
preparation, which includes e.g. writing papers, setting up a lecture or
a workshop, a debate or inviting special guests. By the end of the
second period all material for the conference should be finished.
