Information regarding your new account

Dear student,


PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. MOST OF YOUR QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED BELOW.

You are opening a bank account with ING Bank in Maastricht. We would therefore like to provide you with some more information regarding your new account.


The bank card
We issue a direct debit card. This means any money you spend using your ING Bank card must be in your account at that time. The card is not a credit card.


After four to six days the card and pin code will be sent to the address you fill in on the application form. If the address is outside of the Netherlands then the bank card and pin code will not be sent to you. The card and pin code can then be collected approximately 2 weeks after opening the account by you in person from ING Bank Stationsplein branch in Maastricht between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.


Internet banking
ING Bank offers you the use of internet banking. This can be used by logging on to the internet worldwide using a combination of log-in names, codes and a special calculator. These will be sent to your address after you have signed and returned the special internet banking contract which will be sent to you separately. The use of internet banking is free of charge.

IBAN and BIC
You can transfer money from any account outside of the Netherlands to your ING Bank account here in the Netherlands. To do this you will often need the IBAN (International Bank Account Number) and BIC (also known as Swift). BIC for ING Bank in the Netherlands is:


INGBNL2A


The IBAN is different for every account number. We will give it to you once your account has been activated. But it is also printed on your bank account statement which is sent to you once a month.


Costs
The costs for having an ING Bank account are:

  • Eur 24.00 administration fee per year
  • Eur 12.95 fee per year for the bank card

These costs will be taken directly from your account: the administration fee in January of each year and the bank card fee as soon as you have activated the bank card and once per year from then on.


We CAN NOT:

  • Offer you any form of credit such as credit cards, loans or overdrafts.
  • Transfer money for you to another account, domestic or foreign. Please use internet banking.
  • Help you with internet banking, there is a manual online to help you (see above). For technical questions phone the helpdesk 0900-4644357.
  • Pay your bills or rent! Use internet banking to pay your bills or the ‘acceptgiro’ attached to your bill.
  • Print your account statements. These are sent to you by regular mail.
  • Check your account balance. Use the ATM or internet banking.
  • Deposit cash into an account at another bank.
  • Forward any returned mail. Please tell us your new address before you move.

We CAN do:

  • Deposit cash into your own account. Making a deposit into another ING Bank account costs € 12.00.
  • Foreign exchange for you as a client
  • Withdraw cash from your account if you need more than € 1,200.00 in one day. Otherwise use ATM.
