Students who are doing, or intend to do, a second Dutch master’s degree
Recently this year, the government has passed a bill that states that educational institutions may charge students who wish to apply for a second Dutch master’s programme (after having completed their first master’s degree) a higher tuition fee. Hereupon, the Executive Board has agreed on a generous transitional arrangement:
- Students who have earned a master’s degree at UM and that apply for a second Dutch master’s programme in 2010/11 will pay the reduced tuition fee for the nominal duration of the programme plus a year.
- Students who have earned a master’s degree at any other higher education institution and that apply for a second Dutch master’s programme in 2010/11 at UM will pay the higher tuition fee for the whole of their period of study.
- Students who in 2009/10 are already doing a (first) master’s degree at UM or at any other higher education institution and that apply for a (second, parallel) master’s programme in 2010-2011 at UM may, after having earned their first master’s degree, follow their second master’s programme paying the (reduced) tuition fee for the nominal duration of this second programme plus a year.
- Students who in 2009/10 are already doing a second Dutch master’s degree* may, after having earned their first master’s degree, complete this second Dutch master’s programme paying the (reduced) tuition fee for the remainder of the nominal duration of this second programme plus a year.
* this applies to students who are doing a parallel master’s degree or who are pursuing the master’s degrees consecutively – the first master’s degree may be followed at any other higher education institution.
