UM brings together students and entrepreneurs

8 November 2011

How do you become a successful entrepreneur? What pitfalls do you come across? How should you deal with them? These and other questions will be covered during the conference ‘Entrepreneurship: Crossing Boundaries’, which takes place on 15 November, in the framework of the Global Entrepreneurship Week. The conference will be organised by the Maastricht Centre for Entrepreneurship (MC4E) together with the study association SCOPE 3MA.

By having students acquaint themselves with various types of entrepreneurship and by initiating contact with successful entrepreneurs, the organisation hopes to encourage young high potentials to become more entrepreneurial themselves.

At 9.00am mayor Onno Hoes will welcome the attendees. Within the theme ‘Borderless entrepreneurship’, an impressive line up of well-known entrepreneurs will share their personal knowledge and experience. They will talk about their hardest, most educational, and successful experiences as an entrepreneur. The speakers are successful in various fields and companies, ranging from the cultural sector to legal advice and from online platforms to big multinationals. Among them are: Albert Verlinde (theatre producer), Annemarie van Gaal (Dutch best known female entrepreneur and co-founder of the largest Russian publishing company) and Guido Dieteren (founder of Guido's Orchestra).

Global Entrepreneurship Week
The conference is part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, which takes place every year in November. Together with over 120 other countries, the Netherlands will participate in this event. Via various activities, pupils and students discover the entrepreneur within themselves. You can find more information on www.gewnederland.nl or http://www.unleashingideas.org/.

The conference will take place at the Sint Jan Kerk in Maastricht (Vrijthof). For more information on the programme and registration process, please go to www.gewmaastricht.nl.
