Two UM students in the Olympic Games
18 July 2012
Maastricht University will have two students, Yuhan Tan and Rachel Klamer, participating in the Olympic Games in London this summer.
Yuhan Tan is representing Belgium in the Badminton men’s singles. Yuhan is from Bilzen (in Belgium) and studies medicine in Maastricht. This past year he has put his studies to one side in order to qualify for the Games. The group stages for the men’s singles start on 28 July, after which the last sixteen will battle it out for a place in the final from 1 August to 5 August.
Rachel Klamer is representing Holland in the triathlon event. She lives and trains in Sittard at the Dutch National Triathlon Training Centre and combines this with her study of Health Sciences in Maastricht. The women's Olympic triathlon event takes places on Saturday 4 August in and around Hyde Park.
We would like to wish both Rachel and Yuhan every success in London!
