Second study will not be more expensive for current UM students
30 March 2010
Students currently following a second bachelor's or master's degree at Maastricht University will not have to pay the new, higher rate. The Executive Board has approved a generous transitional agreement for current UM students.
Beginning in 2010, a legislative decision was reached allowing educational institutions to charge higher tuition for students beginning a second bachelor's or master's programme. The Executive Board decided current students would not be affected by this increase for a limited time. The transitional agreement allows current students the low tuition rate for the duration of their study plus one year. The exact details are published on the UM website (see links below).
The higher tuition rates will also apply to students who are non-residents of the region (Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Niedersachsen or Bremen). The transition scheme provides non-residents already studying at UM one year (2010-2011) of low tuition fees. Thereafter they must pay the higher tuition.
Students from non-EU/EEA countries already pay the higher tuition and will continue to do so.
The low tuition fee for the 2010-2011 academic year is € 1.672 (full-time) and € 1.177 (part-time and dual).
The high tuition fee for the 2010-2011 academic year is € 8.500 (full-time), € 4.250 (part-time) for undergraduates and € 12.000 (full-time), € 6.000 (part-time) for master's students.
