SBE student teams successful in LIOF entrepreneur competition
12 July 2010
In celebration of its 35th anniversary this year, Limburg Development and Investment Company LIOF recently held an online competition for student entrepreneurs: LIOF Yeah. LIOF wanted to use this competition to give student entrepreneurship a big boost. They also wanted to strengthen the economy in Limburg. One of the conditions was therefore that students were prepared to set up their business in this province.
The Maastricht University School of Business and Economics supplied three of the ten winners: CVive, TextHamster and iShopLocal (the latter is a joint project with Hogeschool Zuyd). Each of the ten winners received a starter set consisting of €10,000 worth of venture capital and €10,000 in innovation cheques from LIOF. In addition, ten sponsors supplied all kinds of services and products worth up to €10,000 in total, such as laptops, the design of a corporate style, or the building of a website. The remaining €5,000 goes towards the rent of business premises in one of the LIOF Business Centres in Limburg.
