Postgraduate legal education in your shopping cart

Lawyers will soon be able to refresh their legal knowledge and skills wherever they want: at work, at home or on the road. From 1 October 2012, the Postgraduate Education (PAO) Office at Maastricht University’s Faculty of Law will become the first legal faculty in the Netherlands to make its postgraduate education available online (PAOnline). Participants can add the desired modules to their shopping cart, pay through the online payment system and get started straight away.
The legal profession is constantly evolving, which means that ongoing training is essential for practicing lawyers. The Postgraduate Education Office of the Faculty of Law has been offering postgraduate training since 1984. From October, this training will also be available via Maastricht University’s virtual classroom.
Courses
In mid-September, interested parties will be able to register as participants via www.pao-online.nl and choose from the current course offer. The first PAOnline courses will become available (in Dutch) from 1 October:
- Recent developments in the field of civil procedural law (lecturer: F.J. Fernhout); the new modules in civil procedural law will be ready in December 2012 and February, April and June 2013
- General introduction to nationality law (lecturer: Prof. G.R. de Groot)
- Principles of alimony settlement, illustrated with the Trema model (lecturer: F.J. Fernhout)
- Tips, tricks and traps of consumer law (lecturer: S. Verstappen).
Practical information
A course module lasting one hour costs €65. Participants who successfully complete the course and assessment module will receive a certificate of participation and 1 PO-NOVA point, a study credit from the Dutch Bar Association (NOVA) as part of its continuing education initiative.
