Gerard Mols scientific director of TMFI
14 February 2012
Professor Gerard Mols was appointed scientific director of The Maastricht Forensic Institute (TMFI). Mols will continue as Rector Magnificus of Maastricht University until 1 September, when he is succeeded by Professor Luc Soete. Mols will also join the Board of Directors at TMFI BV, the commercial branch of the institute where DSM and Maastricht University collaborate on (criminal) law research. This collaboration ensures optimum integration between research, education and law research.
TMFI was founded by Maastricht University and DSM Resolve. Mols hopes to further expand the institute and create an international establishment alongside the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) and other institutes. To this end, TMFI will further expand its expertise to include forensic medicine, among other disciplines. TMFI also plans to add to the current master’s programmes in Forensic Psychology and Forensics, Criminology and Law. Short-term plans include offering more scientific master’s programmes and courses to people working in the forensics field, such as lawyers, judges, public prosecutors, CID officers and doctors. There will also be plenty of room for scientific research.
An interview with Gerard Mols is available on the TMFI website. Read the full article here (only available in Dutch).
