Prof. dr. J.A.M. (Hans) Heijke was appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau.

Prof. Dr. Hans Heijke, emeritus professor of Education and Labour Law at the School of Business and Economics (SBE), was founder and director of the Research Centre for Education and Labour Market (ROA). Since its establishment in 1986 until his retirement in 2008 he was director of this institute, during which time he has made a unique contribution to the development of scientific knowledge about the relationship between education and employment. He has also contributed to the development of our government policy for the connection between education and the labor market as well as the social debate on the importance of education for careers, for the functioning of organizations and for the development of the economy. His social involvement is apparent in his memberships of several national and international committees and advisory boards, thus attributing to his commitment to and involvement in national and international importance of education.
