DigiD required for application in Studielink

If you live in the Netherlands (i.e. if you’re officially registered as a resident of the Netherlands via a local municipality), you’ll need a DigiD account to apply via Studielink. DigiD is a collective system with which government institutions can verify your identity online. For example, in addition to Studielink, you also need a DigiD to apply to the IB-Groep for a student grant or loan.

Apply in time

You can apply for a DigiD account via www.digid.nl. See “How to apply for a DigiD”. Make sure that you have your Citizen Service Number (BSN) at hand.

It takes around five days for your DigiD log-in details to be sent to your home address. Make sure you have applied for your DigiD about 1 month before the official registration deadline set for the programme of your choice.

If you already have a DigiD account, you can use this to log on to Studielink. Make sure you remember the password or apply for a new one in time.

Students living outside the Netherlands

If you don’t live in the Netherlands, you won’t need a DigiD account. In that case you go to Studielink, and choose the option “Request login details and log in (EXCLUSIVELY for students with a home address abroad)”, mentioned on the main screen under “Log in”.
