INKOM
So you’ve made the decision to come to Maastricht to study? Then you mustn’t miss UM’s general introduction week, INKOM! This is the week to really experience life as a student in Maastricht and maybe even make lifelong friends …
For all first year students
INKOM is for all first year students of Maastricht University and University Zuyd, and for all masters students coming from universities other than Maastricht University. Nearly 2,300 ‘new’ students took part in this general introduction week last year! Five students worked a year long full time to organize this, which would still have been impossible without the enthusiastic support of some 3,000 upper level students!
Upper level students show you the city
During INKOM you get the chance to learn a lot about Maastricht as a student city. Like what kinds of study and student associations and sports clubs there are, and about what the city has to offer in the way of art and culture, and when and at which of Maastricht’s many bars and cafes you are mostly likely to meet lots of other students.
Partying with 5,000 students
A featured annual event of INKOM is a parade through Maastricht in which students and student societies introduce themselves to the people living in Maastricht. The parade ends every year with a live performance by a well-known Dutch performing artist (this was Alain Clark at last year’s INKOM). Every year big parties are held on Tuesday and Friday evenings. This year DJ Ferry Corsten kept more than 5,000 people dancing through the wee hours of the night…
The plans for next year’s INKOM haven’t been set yet, but have a look at the website of INKOM to learn more.
