Living on your own
You’ve left home and you’re going to live on your own. A big step. It’s important that the city you’re moving to is a fine city. It’s especially important that it feels right for you, and that you can find a decent place to live.
Compact and safe
Maastricht is considered one of the most beautiful and safest cities of the Netherlands. Because the city is also compact, lively and international, it is the ideal place for students. And even though students make up 20% of the population, it is not all that difficult to find good accommodation in Maastricht. Most students live in the center of the city and all live within cycling distance of the university’s various facilities and buildings.
No waiting lists, but start your search early
In contrast to many other student cities in the Netherlands, Maastricht does not have long waiting lists for student housing. It is still a good idea to start searching early.
Your search for a suitable accommodation should begin at Maastrichthousing.com, which is a collaboration between the Guesthouse UM, Kamerburo and Stichting Studentenhuisvesting Maastricht (Maastricht Association for Student Housing). Their aim is to help students of Maastricht University, University Zuyd and the Jan van Eyck Art Academy find their way quickly and ably in their search for accommodation. The housing on offer at Maastrichthousing.com is meant for the students, staff and guests of Maastricht’s institutions of higher learning only!
