Internationalisation
Internationalisation at Maastricht University means:
- the vast majority of courses are taught in English
- virtually all education and research focuses on international and European themes
- almost 45% of our students and more than 30% of our academic staff come from abroad
- our students represent more than 100 nationalities; the most international student population in Dutch higher education
- ‘International Classroom Development’: students from different origins and cultural backgrounds come into contact with divergent views and various ways of solving problems, preparing them for successful careers on the international labour market
- many opportunities to study or do an internship abroad; 38% of our students take these opportunities, giving UM the highest outbound student mobility of all general Dutch universities
- a considerable inflow and outflow of exchange students
