Getting the best from yourself, developing your talents and strengthening your résumé. In Maastricht University’s various excellence programmes, ambitious students of demonstrated quality can do all this. At present more than 1,300 students participate in these challenging programmes; the aim is to increase the size of this group by approximately 30%.
• Honours programmes: in various faculties, the best students may follow excellence programmes as an extension of their regular courses.
• MaRBle: In this programme, small groups of bachelor’s students work under the supervision of a senior researcher on fundamental and applied research; we call this Research-Based Learning.
• PREMIUM: In PREMIUM, interdisciplinary groups of master’s students work on assignments from the business and government sectors. Students engage in direct contact with clients and receive individual coaching in the subject matter and skills development, making this a unique programme.
• University College Maastricht (UCM) and the Maastricht Science Programme. These regular study programmes fall within the family of excellence programmes due to their high level, selective admission and the innovative educational concept of ‘Liberal Arts and Sciences’. UCM has been awarded a special quality mark by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO) for the exceptional quality of its graduates.
