Admission and application
Admission to the PhD programme is selective. Candidates who are interested in participating in the PhD programme should submit:
- a curriculum vitae (CV)
- a letter of motivation, including an indication of how to combine working on a PhD dissertation with a regular job or other activities
- an outline of a research plan, including introduction of the proposed research topic, research question, methodology, and bibliography.
The deadline for application is Monday 2 September 2013.
The applications will be reviewed, based on the merits of the candidate, the research plan and available supervisors, by the Academic Board at the Department of Political Science. A selection of candidates will be invited for an intake interview to discuss the outline and the planning of the research project.
At the end of the first year, participants need to submit an elaborated research plan. In order to proceed to the second year, the proposal requires a positive assessment by the supervisors and the Academic Board.
PhD fellows will be subject to the Regulation governing the attainment of doctoral degrees of Maastricht University (read the PhD Guide of Maastricht University for more information).
