Talent is rewarded
Maastricht University (UM) encourages talent. To attract, encourage and stimulate talented students is one of the main priorities of the Strategic Programme 2007-2010. We should recognise and reward talented students. To this end, UM created the Top 3% Award in the academic year 2008/09. The Top 3% of students received a grant equal to the value of the tuition fees that they paid for the relevant academic year.
According to the Executive Board, the Top 3% has largely reached its goal and has become a great success. Since its introduction in the academic year 2007/2008, 815 students have qualified for the award. This academic year (2010/2011), this scholarship has been presented for the last time. We are currently thinking of a different format for the award. Needless to say, UM will continue to attract and stimulate talented students.
See the pages below for videos, interviews and photos of Top 3% Award winners.
Selection and conditions 2010-2011
Selection of the top 3% of students takes place within each faculty. Each faculty has its own criteria based on a number of UM-wide conditions (pdf).
