Use USB stick in the library
To use a USB stick on a PC in the library, follow the steps below:
- Log in as 'local'*
- Insert the USB stick in the computer’s USB port.
- Then log in on the network* via the student log on icon.
- This will allow you to see the stick in both environments as the ‘K: drive’.
If you do this in a different order (i.e. if you first log in to the student environment), you will see the K: drive in the ‘local’ environment, but you will not be able to retrieve the USB stick in the student environment.
* You can log in twice on a library computer:
- If you log in once, you will be working ‘locally’ (i.e. not via a network).
- If you then log in a second time, you will come to the staff or student environment. Here, you have your own I: drive in which to save documents. Further, the standard and extra software programs are installed here (for students, this is the faculty software; for staff there are extras, mostly available via the Start button > Programs > Specials).
