Maastricht Academic Heritage Fund
The Maastricht Academic Heritage Fund stimulates initiatives that enhance awareness for and encourage exploitation of the special collections at Maastricht University. The fund is used to finance projects that contribute to the utilisation of these collections for education and research at Maastricht University. The fund also financially supports projects that contribute to the efficient management, acquisition and broad accessibility of the special collections for a wide range of stakeholders, both in Maastricht and abroad.
Become a friend of the Maastricht Academic Heritage Fund
Are you interested in contributing to the fund and helping us ensure that the special collections by Pierre Kemp, Charles Eyck, and the Jesuits remain accessible to you and others? If you become a friend of the fund, you will help support the following projects:
Exhibition of Pierre Kemp’s work
In 1994, the Pierre Kemp Foundation lent the personal library of poet Pierre Kemp (1886–1967) to the University Library of Maastricht University (UM). A collection of letters and handwritten documents was purchased in 2002. In 2007 and 2011, the collection was further completed by donations. Finally, at the end of 2011, the Executive Board bought a Kemp collection of original handwritten documents that had newly come on the market. The University Library will organise, describe and conserve these documents when funds become available.
Thanks to the conscious acquisition policy that was applied over the last couple of decades, UM became owner of a unique heritage collection. The University Library indexed and conserved part of this collection by subject and made it available for UM research and education.
The University Library would like to share this Limburg heritage with a wider audience, for instance via exhibitions. In order to realise these ambitions we are looking for sponsors.
Digitisation of the Weekblad van het Regt (Law Journal)
Within the framework of digital access to the old collections, the University Library is currently digitising the complete Weekblad van het Regt (Law Journal).
The Weekblad van het Regt (subtitled verzameling van regtzaken, bouwstoffen voor wetgeving, mengelwerk; ± collection of law cases, building material for legislation, miscellany) is a collection and reference work for case law in the period of 1839–1943. It is an important primary source for research on legal history.
A digital version – including full text searchability – could generate a multitude of research and education applications. To complete the digitisation, we need funds and we are asking for your support.
You can become a friend by making a donation to the University Fund, made payable to the Maastricht Academic Heritage Fund. Go to the Limburg University Fund/SWOL website for more information on donations and related tax regulations.
