UM High Potential Scholarships

Maastricht University aims to further strengthen its position as a leading European university offering high-quality education with an international orientation. To this end, the university implements a proactive recruitment policy for international students, in particular for the master’s programmes. Scholarships are made available by the Maastricht University Scholarship Fund in order to encourage talented students from outside the EU/EEA to follow a Master's programme at Maastricht University. Ford Foundational International Fellowship Programme

The Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program (IFP) provides opportunities for advanced study to exceptional individuals set to become leaders in their respective fields as well as advance development in their own countries and economic and social justice worldwide. To ensure that fellows are drawn from diverse backgrounds, IFP actively seeks candidates from social groups and communities that lack systematic access to higher education. HEC

This scholarship aims to rapidly improve Pakistan’s national research capacity. In October 2006, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan started Phase II of its Overseas Scholarship for PhD in Selected Fields, which will see scholarships go to 2000 candidates. Recipients follow a PhD programme or combined master's leading to a PhD in the following disciplines: engineering and technology, life, physical or social sciences, business studies, and arts and humanities. Huygens Scholarship Programme

The prestigious Huygens Scholarship Programme is open to excellent students from all countries. It is aimed at talented students who want to come to the Netherlands in the final phase of their bachelor’s studies or during their master’s studies.  
PhD applications can only be accepted from excellent students with the Chinese, Icelandic, Macedonian, Croatian or Turkish nationality. Furthermore, the minister has allocated part of the total budget for excellent students following programmes in Dutch language and literature, or Neerlandistiek. For more information, click here.

Libertas Support Fund

The Libertas Support Fund helps bachelor’s or master’s students who cannot study in their home countries for political reasons start or continue their studies in the Netherlands. Applicable countries are selected by the Ministry of Education; currently the fund is only available to students from Belarus and Zimbabwe.

Programme Alban

Programme Alßan is a high-level EU scholarship programme for Latin America. It aims to reinforce EU and Latin American cooperation in higher education by offering master’s or doctoral scholarships for Latin American citizens at EU higher education/research and training centres.

Anandamahidol

Anandamahidol Foundation is established and funded by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej with an aim to support excellent academic and good moral students to the highest academic opportunity abroad. Although there is no commitment, the awarded students are expected to bring back to knowledge to help developing Thailand in the future. For more information, click here.

Socrates/Erasmus

The EU’s Socrates/Erasmus programme aims to improve the quality and 'European dimension' of higher education through a variety of activities: student and teacher mobility, curriculum development, language courses and the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

Apart from the Netherlands, participating countries include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom. StuNed

Studeren in Nederland (StuNed) aims to contribute to Indonesia’s development through strengthening the human resources of its organisations. Each year some 150-200 full scholarships are offered for professionals to follow master’s programmes as well as short or tailor-made training courses in English. Graduates commit to returning to Indonesia upon graduation to be actively involved in development. For more information, click here.

The Netherlands Fellowship Programme

The NFP is a demand-driven programme designed to foster capacity building within organisations in 57 developing countries. Funded by the development cooperation budget of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it provides education and training to mid-career staff members.

The need for education and training must be present within the applicant’s organisation, meaning that applicants must be nominated by their employers. Applications without employer support will not be considered. For more information, click here.

Kosovo Scholarship

The Young Cells Scheme is the EU Postgraduate Scholarship Programme for Kosovo, aiming to contribute to the creation of an effective, efficient and transparent public administration in Kosovo at all levels. The YCS aims to improve the professional capacity and expertise of civil servants in key sectors of the Kosovo public administration by offering the opportunity to Kosovan graduates to undertake postgraduate masters programme in EU Universities. Established in 1946, the Fulbright Program aims to increase mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and other countries through the exchange of persons, knowledge and skills.
It is the largest U.S. international exchange program offering opportunities for students, scholars, and professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools worldwide.
