UM High Potential Scholarships
Maastricht University aims to further strengthen its position as a leading European university offering high-quality education with an international orientation. Ford Foundational International Fellowship Programme
The Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program (IFP) provides opportunities for advanced study to exceptional individuals set to become leaders in their respective fields as well as advance development in their own countries and economic and social justice worldwide. To ensure that fellows are drawn from diverse backgrounds, IFP actively seeks candidates from social groups and communities that lack systematic access to higher education. This scholarship aims to rapidly improve Pakistan’s national research capacity. In October 2006, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan started Phase II of its Overseas Scholarship for PhD in Selected Fields, which will see scholarships go to 2000 candidates. Recipients follow a PhD programme or combined master's leading to a PhD in the following disciplines: engineering and technology, life, physical or social sciences, business studies, and arts and humanities. Huygens Scholarship Programme
The prestigious Huygens Scholarship Programme is open to excellent students from all countries. It is aimed at talented students who want to come to the Netherlands in the final phase of their bachelor’s studies or during their master’s studies.
PhD applications can only be accepted from excellent students with the Chinese, Icelandic, Macedonian, Croatian or Turkish nationality. Furthermore, the minister has allocated part of the total budget for excellent students following programmes in Dutch language and literature, or Neerlandistiek. For more information, click here.
Libertas Support Fund
The Libertas Support Fund helps bachelor’s or master’s students who cannot study in their home countries for political reasons start or continue their studies in the Netherlands. Applicable countries are selected by the Ministry of Education; currently the fund is only available to students from Belarus and Zimbabwe.
Programme Alßan is a high-level EU scholarship programme for Latin America. It aims to reinforce EU and Latin American cooperation in higher education by offering master’s or doctoral scholarships for Latin American citizens at EU higher education/research and training centres.

The EU’s Socrates/Erasmus programme aims to improve the quality and 'European dimension' of higher education through a variety of activities: student and teacher mobility, curriculum development, language courses and the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

Studeren in Nederland (StuNed) aims to contribute to Indonesia’s development through strengthening the human resources of its organisations. Each year some 150-200 full scholarships are offered for professionals to follow master’s programmes as well as short or tailor-made training courses in English. The Netherlands Fellowship Programme
The NFP is a demand-driven programme designed to foster capacity building within organisations in 57 developing countries. Funded by the development cooperation budget of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it provides education and training to mid-career staff members.
